#1 Pre-Writing Paragraphs

This is the thinking stage, where you carefully think about what you want to write. You may begin by asking a question that you want answered. It is very helpful to think of a topic or a question that really interests you. You may need to do some research if it is a question that you cannot answer based on your experience or knowledge. At this point, you need to write down your answers so that you can develop your main idea.

#2 Writing Paragraphs

Once you have collated your facts and the things you want to share, you may start writing. You begin with your topic sentence then follow with your supporting and closing sentences. Remember to focus on the main idea of your paragraph so that all the other sentences will support your assertion or declaration. It is important that you are careful in writing your sentences. It is best to vary the sentence structure once in a while. You may use transition words like for instance, however, on the other hand, in particular, afterward, etc.

#3 Editing Paragraphs

Once you have written your paragraph, it is best to check or proof-read for mistakes and other necessary corrections. Even professional writers will often re-write their essays several times before they are satisfied with their results. Other than checking for misspellings or improper usage of words, you need to be careful about the content of your sentences. Each and every sentence in your paragraph must relate to your topic or main idea. Last, but not the least, make sure that your paragraph is not boring but would capture the interest of your readers.

#4 Publishing Paragraphs

This is it! You are finally ready to publish your work by printing the final copy and showing it to other people. You may ask your parent, teacher or friend to read your work and use their inputs to improve your writing.

The key to good writing entails knowledge. Naturally, you write better when you have something to say. You can have something important to say when you know something.
